I signed up to do 31 posts this month on finding balance. I did not do that very well, did I?
So instead, I wanted to end October with a different kind of 31 days post.
The most important and special kind.
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. She has gone through chemo therapy, surgery, and, for the past month, radiation.
But today, the 31st day of October [and the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness month], marks her last radiation treatment.
She's done!
My mom is one of the 2.6 million women who have survived breast cancer this year in the U.S!
For the past 31 days, my mom has also been busy growing her hair back! With hair or without, she's gorgeous!
I can't think of a better way to spend the holiday season that rejoicing in the Lord's healing and my mom's good health! It's truly a blessing.

In 2011, there will be 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 57,650 case of non-invasive breast cancer.
Did you know: the two most important risk factors for breast cancer are
- being female
- getting older
Does this sound like anyone you know?
Women age 40 and older should have a mammogram every 1 to 2 years. However, women who are at higher risk of breast cancer should talk to their doctor about whether to have a mammogram before age 40.
