Barn Owl Primitive Giveaway

I usually don't blog about giveaways, but I really really want to win this one.

Barn Owl Primitive is giving away the most amazingly large sign ever over at Little Miss Momma.

Go take a peek, but you probably shouldn't enter. Just saying. I really want to win :)

Puffy Paint Pictures: A Tutorial(ish)

Our second bathroom is really big and it currently houses the litter box and not much else.

It was a sad space.

We have a few hand towels in there- one's plain blue and one is white with bright green leaves.

I used this as an inspiration for a few pieces of art to liven up the place.

I present to you puffy paint pictures and a semi-tutorial. I didn't take pictures of the process but it's super easy to explain.

- I bought a two-pack of canvas at Hobby Lobby and went to town.

- I had my hubby draw some leaves in each corner similar to the leaves on the hand towel.

- I used puffy paint to trace the lines of the leaves and let it dry overnight.

- I painted each canvas with three coats of acrylic paint. Make sure you let each coat dry well before you apply the second. That's how you make sure you will cover up the white puffy paint.

I love the way they turned out!!

Canvases: $4 (half off)
Puffy Paint: $2 (I bought 2)
Acrylic Paint: $4 (I bought two of each color)
Hubby's Art Skills: paid him in kisses

Not bad for a $10 project and a little jaunt to Hobby Lobby (I was already there anyway!)

I'm linking up to the parties here.

WIWW(ish)

Once again, no outfits of my own.

But here are a few I'm loving.

They're a bit funkier than I normally dress, but one of these days, when I get the courage, I'm going to go for it!

Totally kidding about the last one.
The rest can be found here.

Keeping You A Breast: A Mom Update

This is my mom Peggy.
(isn't she beautiful!)

For those of you who don't know, she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Here's what you missed.

- She started chemo
- She lost her hair
- She got a wig and a few hats
- I shaved her head
- She lost her tasters (food just didn't taste the same)
- She went to more chemo
- She finished chemo
- She went for tests
- She was declared cancer free
- She still had surgery just in case
- They tested her lymph nodes
- She was declared really, really cancer free!

My mom is definitely my hero.

This has been a hard year for my mom, and it's not over yet. There's still 6 weeks of radiation and a year of drug treatment to keep the cancer from coming back.

But she's cancer free!

As I write that, I am just overwhelmed by Jesus and His incredible power to heal and sustain us through difficult times.

Thank you so much for your prayers! All your kind emails and encouraging words mean so much.

Did you know...

Only 1 in 10 women who have breast cancer have a genetic history of the disease

Today, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime.

Breast cancer accounts for more than 1 in 4 cancers diagnosed in US women

According to the American Cancer Society, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes.

In 2008 there was 182,460 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed.

And did you know...

Twenty-five percent of all breast cancers are found by women doing their own breast examinations.

You should begin conducting regular, monthly Breast Safety Exams (BSE) as soon as your breasts are fully developed. This usually varies from 10-16 years-old.

The best time to do a BSE is right after your period.

A spouse can help with a BSE, in fact, many lumps are found by a woman’s partner. But don’t rely on others. You should know your own body better than anyone.

Praying for Each Other

(I'm sorry, I forgot to hit publish this morning)

AmandaAaron and I are still trying to trust God right now that He will provide a job for Aaron to support our family.  Please be praying that Aaron's interview Monday at noon would go well.  We are thankful for a friend who helped us financially recently, but are still hoping to find employment soon.  Could you please also pray for our midwife appointment on Tuesday?  I haven't gained any weight at all yet this pregnancy, but thankfully my appetite has gotten better and I'm beginning to be able to eat better (Praise God I got some veggies in today).  I'm also just struggling with being discouraged today and would appreciate prayer for that.

Jessea: My prayer request is that my family could find a way to make more money- with Gods help- we are a very happy, but very poor family..but we are great in heart and hugs and snuggles.

Me: Please pray for my students. I run a residence hall with 400+ students and 13 RAs. Please pray that they make good choices, get connected, and start out on a path to a successful college career.  Please pray that I can continue to be a hall coordinator that loves my students and supports them unconditionally. Pray that I can be an example of love, kindness, responsibility, and integrity.

Pray for my hubby. He's stressed! With school, work, life. Please pray that the Lord would grant him peace and help him accomplish on the things that he needs to do.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God...

Inspiration Workshop: Favorite Color

Each week, Gussy Sews hosts the Inspiration Workshop. Maggie provides us with a prompt and asks us to share what it means to us.

This Week: My Favorite Color

I had this grand idea of taking pictures of my favorite color to wear. I have lots of items this color. I was going to lay them on the bed, shoes, pants, tops, skirts and dresses.

But alas. I didn't feel well today. I spent the afternoon at urgent care thinking my appendix was exploding.

It wasn't.

So here's my favorite clothing color as depicted by polyvore.

I present to you: Gray
gray cardigan 1
gray dress 1

yellow cardigan 1

Praying for Each Other

JoannaI sell Pampered Chef and have moved to my area about a year ago. I am very much in need of growing my buisness cause my finances are very low. I have not been able to find people to host shows and such! I would ask prayer that the Lord would send people my way! Even if they are people that live far away from me to do catologe shows! I have been fasting and praying about this myself! But as the bible says were 2 or 3 are gathers! So I figured Id ask others to pray for me!

Mamiestarting a new medication to try and avoid surgery and my little katie starts kindergarden this week.

Jacqueline: My husband and I have been going through fertility treatments for about a year now and just finished our last (unsuccessful) cycle. Our doctor said that there isn't anything else we can do but to try an IVF cycle. We can't afford that, but God blessed us with TWO FREE cycles of IVF though a new study the clinic is working on!! As amazing as that is, I am really nervous!! I want this more than I can express and just want this to be it...for to finally work! Basically, I am asking for peace, for courage...for a miracle! (Is it ok to ask for a miracle? I don't know. haha)

Marigold Road Winner

Yay Andy from the hollie rogue. You won your very own Marigold Road headband!

I'm emailing you now :)
